Whether you are an Annual Passholder, a local Southern California resident, or a tourist from anywhere else in the world, 2020 is the year to visit the Disneyland parks! And here’s why:
The new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride will be opening at Disneyland on January 17th! This highly anticipated attraction is the newest addition to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and it’s going to be incredible!! According to Disneyland, this attraction will “take guests aboard a full-size transport shuttle before they are captured by a Star Destroyer and find themselves in the middle of a climactic battle between the dark side of the First Order and the light side of the Resistance, including BB-8 and Rey. The adventure blurs the lines between fantasy and reality on a scale never seen before in a Disney attraction.”
There is a new parade hitting Main Street called “Magic Happens” at Disneyland on February 28th!! According to Disneyland, “this new daytime parade will feature stunning floats, beautiful costumes, and beloved Disney characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2,” “Moana” and “Sleeping Beauty,” plus Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” and more, all led by Mickey Mouse and his pals.” I am so excited!
The Avengers Campus is set to open during the Summer but no official date has been announced yet. From what I have seen and heard, this is going to be incredible! And I’ve watched all the movies so I’m counting down the days for this!
The Lunar New Year Celebration begins at Disney California Adventure on January 17th-February 9th. And it’s the Year of the Mouse so expect Mickey and Minnie to wear festive attire! To read all about this special yearly multicultural tradition, please read my full blog about my experience last year right here!
The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will be from February 28-April 21! I highly suggest getting the Sip & Savor pass so you can enjoy a variety of the California inspired cuisine and beverages. In addition, there is expected to be new line of event merchandise available, from festival-themed headwear and apparel, to kitchen gadgets and decor! And your children can bake cookies with Goofy!
Go on a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt in the park! We did this last year and it was so fun! You buy a game board for a small price that comes with clues and a set of stickers with different characters on them. Then you go around the park and find cards that coincide with the Disney character on the sticker (see example below)! When you find all of the cards and your game board is full, you then you can go back to the store for a prize!
Go on an Easter egg scavenger hunt in the park! We have done this two years in a row and it’s such a fun tradition! It’s basically the same concept of the Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt, except you find eggs instead of cards and you can play different boards in Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney!
Visit Disneyland during Halloween! Disneyland transforms into a spookiest place on earth and it’s not to be missed! Various limited festivities including the Ooogie Boogie Bash happen during this special time of year! Plus you can get a photo with the giant Mickey pumpkin!
Visit Disneyland during the Holidays! This is one of my absolute favorite times to visit the park! From the decor, music, food, Christmas Fantasy parade, and more – the holidays are truly magical at Disneyland! You can read more about it here!
PLUS it was just announced yesterday that Disneyland will be offering special discounted tickets for a limited time from now until May 18th!

Want more than a few days? I suggest buying an Annual Passport so you can come throughout the entire year! They have 5 different tiers of passes at various price points, blockout days, and benefits/discounts.
And knowing Disneyland, they always have new and exciting things up their sleeve all the time! Check their website for all the up-to-date news throughout the year so you don’t miss a thing!
So what are you waiting for? Start making your plans for your next trip to Disneyland now! You know I am!
