My family and I were so excited to be invited to celebrate the GRAND OPENING of the new THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD at LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA this past week. As media, we were able to go inside the park before it opened to the public for a special breakfast and witness the exclusive Grand Opening Ceremony!
Afterwards, we had the unique opportunity to go on all the rides and attractions before they opened this new part of the theme park to the public. It was a day I will never forget and will cherish forever because not only was it awesome fun, it was the first media event I attended post pandemic and it felt so good to be at one of my favorite places with my family and some of my favorite people in the blogging world! I will never take these opportunities for granted and am so thankful each time I am invited to an event like this one!

Side note: The THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD was supposed to open in March 2020 and I was supposed to attend but they had to cancel it since it was scheduled a few days after the world closed down.
Thus, the new THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD debuted on May 27, 2021. It is the largest addition to the park since it opened in 1999 with 3 new rides, 3 new attractions, and 3 dining experiences as well as a gift shop called The Awesome Shop and multiple fun photo spots! If you are a fan of the LEGO MOVIES you will love stepping into this colorful and fun make believe town that makes you feel like you are in the middle of Bricksburg with your favorite characters like Emmet, Lucy (Wild Style), Benny, Unikitty, and more!
I am so happy that LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA is open again after being closed for over a year. And the Sea Life Aquarium and Waterpark are also open now, too! Located in North County, San Diego in the heart of Carlsbad just a few miles from the beach, it’s a vacation destination for families that I hope will bring more tourism to San Diego! I would like to note that you need a ticket and reservation in advance to go to LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA. Masks are still required in the park, but you can remove them while you are eating, drinking, or taking photos. There are also social distancing rules when you are in line for a ride and around certain areas of the park. And they are still operating at limited capacity, so planning ahead is essential. You can buy a ticket and make a reservation for your trip here!
Rides
Emmet’s Flying Adventure Ride
This was my favorite ride of the day! It’s not only the biggest attraction in THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD but also the fastest and longest ride! You will sit on a Triple Decker Flying Couch that seats 12 people at a time where you will spin 180 degrees to a full dome virtual screen that will take you on the most colorful and awesome adventure with Emmet and his friends! You really feel like you are flying and there are even a few surprises along the way that you “feel” when you are on the ride, too! You are sitting the entire time while the images on the screen move, so it’s very safe and fun even for little ones! My four year old loved it! You need to be 48 inches to ride alone, otherwise, you need to be 40 inches to ride with someone 14 years or older.
Unikitty’s Disco Drop
This was my daughter’s favorite ride of the day! You have to love heights and movement for this ride, but if you do, this ride is for you! You will sit in a chair next to someone else (8 people total sit in a circle) and you go up to the top of the tower 35 feet high and then drop, spin, and bounce until you reach the bottom again! It’s not a long ride nor does it go too fast or is too jerky. Both of my children do not like fast drops and they both loved this ride! You need to be 48 inches to ride alone, otherwise, you need to be 40 inches to ride with someone 14 years or older.
Queen Watevra’s Carousel
This was my son’s favorite ride of the day! This carousel has 60 horses you can choose from to go round and round to some fun music! There is no minimum height requirement to ride!
Attractions
Emmet’s Super Suite
This is a fun meet n greet attraction where you will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with your favorite characters from the movies. The characters switch out every 30 minutes!
Benny’s Playship
This fun enclosed outdoor play area is a triple decker play area with some giant slides! The kids couldn’t get enough! There is no height requirement but it can get crowded in there, so keep an eye on your little one!
Build Watevra You Wa’Na Build
This is a fun area where children can build anything they wa’na build and become Master Builders! It’s also a great place to get some time out of the sun! Employees limit how many people can go inside (it’s technically outside but covered) and regularly clean the bricks!
Insider Tip: There is also a fun splash pad area in the middle of Bricksburg!
Dining
Everything is Ramen
The menu consists of salads, rice bowls, and of course, ramen! And there are plenty of places to sit outside!
Cloud Cuckoo Crepes
Craving something sweet? Are your kids big Nutella fans like mine? Then a crepe is for you!
Benny’s Rocket Fuel
If you are looking for more of a snack, this is where you want to go! The menu offers drinks, chips, popcorn, fruit, ice cream, and slushies!
The Awesome Shop
And finally, The Awesome Shop offers a variety of themed merchandise including t-shirts, mugs, stuffed characters, and more!
What are you waiting for? Head to LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA for an AWESOME family adventure today!
I am an official LEGOLAND Blogger Ambassador and was invited and hosted by LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA for this event but all opinions are my own. All photos belong to me except The Awesome Shop belongs to LEGOLAND.
