My family and I recently stayed at The Cassara Carlsbad in North County, San Diego and we had a wonderful hosted weekend. The resort sits on 12 acres just a short 2 mile trip from the beach overlooking the Carlsbad Flower Fields, The Carlsbad Premium Outlets, and the Pacific Ocean. Oh and did I mention it is right next door to LEGOLAND? It’s also less than an hour away from The San Diego Zoo, The Safari Park, Downtown, Sea World, and Disneyland!
The resort is part of Hilton’s Tapestry’s Collection and just opened July 1st! And let me tell you the moment you arrive at the resort you are impressed by all the beautiful outdoor landscape and lobby decor.
We stayed in one of their family suites that had a separate bedroom for the kids. The suite also came with 3 televisions and a living room area that separated the two bedrooms! I loved how clean and new everything was! The Cassara Carlsbad is also pet friendly! There were lots of pups on the property and plenty of places to walk them!
We had a giant sized balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean!
The Cassara Carlsbad has two swimming pools and a splash pad! One swimming pool is considered a quiet pool and is open daily from 6am-11pm. The family pool is open daily from 8am-9pm and also includes a splash pad! The kids had so much fun exploring all of the water amenities the hotel had to offer. And my inside tip is to go first thing in the morning when it is not too busy!
One feature our family loved was the resort’s fire pits. There are some fire pits that are solely for enjoyment and others are for making s’mores! The resort offers specific s’mores nights where the resort has the supplies available and other nights where you are free to bring your own. And speaking of bringing your own food, the resort has multiple bbq grills around the property for guests to use!
The first night we ate dinner at Karl Strauss, which shares the same parking lot as the resort, and is even closer to the family suites, so it was the perfect place to eat on the patio and have a good meal without having to get in our car!
The second night of our stay, we went about a mile up the road to the resort’s sister property, to eat at The Sheraton Carlsbad’s premiere restaurant called 7 Mile Kitchen. They have plenty of outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the sunset if you go at the right time of day.
We started our meal with the Fritto Misto, which was fried calamari and shrimp as well as a caesar salad!
Then my husband ordered the Snake River Farms Wagyu Top Sirloin with warm sweet potato salad with whole grain mustard vinaigrette, swiss chard, and italian salsa verde! And I ordered the Chicken Paillard, which is pan seared chicken breast with lemon caper butter Pappardelle, pesto, blistered tomato, and reggiano. They were both so delicious we switched half way through!
Our children ordered the kids burger and fries and spaghetti and meatballs!
And for dessert, the kids ordered s’mores and mint chocolate chip gelato and my husband and I shared the cheesecake brûlée!
And there are plenty of options for breakfast nearby the hotel right near the beach including one of my favorite coffee spots called Pannikin Coffee & Tea. If you are lucky, the train might ride by during your meal!
And this being our first hotel stay since the pandemic started, there were many new health and safety precautions in place around the property that made us feel very safe. Hilton has very high standards of cleanliness and disinfection with their “Hilton Clean Stay” program and before you even walk into your room, they have it sealed with their “Hilton Clean Stay” stickers so you know no one has been in there since it was professionally cleaned. And once inside your room there are more signs showing the cleanliness including wrapping up the remote control and giving you bathroom essentials like shampoo and lotion in your own individual bag when you check in.
There are also plenty of hand sanitizing stations around the property and even inside the elevator!
And there is signage everywhere on the property to remind you to wear your masks, wash your hands, and stay 6 feet apart from other guests!
Thank you so much for our stay. We can’t wait to return in the future!
