My family and I recently stayed at the JW Marriott Anaheim and we had a fun filled weekend in one of our favorite cities! Anaheim, is of course known for Disneyland Parks, but it has so much more to offer including the nearby Packing District and Anaheim Garden Walk, which is right next door! There is so much to see and do in the city and the JW Marriott is in the heart of it all. It’s the perfect place to stay that offers convenience to everything in Anaheim as well as luxury and wellness all in one!
The Property
The JW Marriott is a AAA Four Diamond luxury hotel located in the heart of Anaheim. Just minutes to the Disneyland Resort, this luxury hotel is perfect for any trip to the parks! The minute you step into the hotel, you know you are staying in an upscale property that is elevated more than most hotels in the Anaheim area. Everything looks new, clean, and spacious with large sitting areas and a beautiful chandelier in the middle of the lobby!
Upon check in, the children were given a coloring book and crayons, which they proceeded to play with in the room every time we had down time. It’s special touches like these that really make a hotel special and standout to me! We were also given a warm welcome from the hotel once we arrived at our room. They delivered balloons, waters, popcorn, and candy for us to share during our stay. The kids absolutely loved it all!
And as I mentioned, the hotel is in very close proximity to Disneyland Parks. In fact, it is only a 5 minute car ride to the drop off area, which is 1.2 miles away. You technically could walk, as it would take you approximately 12 minutes or 0.6 miles, but I personally recommend taking an ART bus to and from the Toy Story Lot, which is directly across the street from the hotel.
The Rooms
We stayed in a standard two-queen room but it seemed bigger than other standard rooms I have stayed in. There was plenty of room for a family of four and also had room for a refrigerator, a desk, and a couch area. The bathroom was beautiful and looked renovated. The bath and shower area felt spa like and were one of my favorite parts of the room!
We were upgraded to a park view room – otherwise known as a fireworks room – which I say is 100% worth it when traveling to this area with children. We usually stay in the area for two nights and one of the nights almost always watch the fireworks from our room. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
The Food
The JW Marriott has an incredible on-site restaurant on property called the Tocca Ferro Italian Chophouse. We dined there for one dinner and it was quite a culinary experience! We started off with a complimentary wine tasting (included in your destination fee) before dinner. Then we received a complimentary appetizer from the chef before ordering our meal. Then we ordered the Salumi and Cheese for Two (although the kid also dipped into it, too)!
My husband ordered the Prime NY Strip and I ordered the Grass Fed Filet Mignon. Both were cooked to perfection, just the way we wanted them. I also highly recommend getting the truffle butter sauce for the top! And we paired them with some sides including the roasted garlic whipped potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts. I was impressed how much was on the kids menu, especially for a hotel. One of my children ordered the cheeseburger and the other ordered macaroni and cheese.
Then, of course, we ordered two desserts to share! Being gluten free I only had a nibble, but the rest of the family boasted about how delicious they both tasted!
The Pool
The JW Marriott has a beautiful outdoor pool on the second floor of the property. There is plenty of seating and there are even some cabanas for an elevated level of style! Whether you want to go to play or go to relax this pool area offers both! And the Citriculture lobby bar connects to the outside, so getting a beverage or a snack has never been easier!
The JW Gardens and Wellness Areas
The JW Marriott focuses on a holistic approach to your well-being and has offerings like the beautiful JW Garden, a yoga and zen room, a fitness center!
As a therapist, I love that the hotel has these offereings for our physical and mental health and makes those both a priority! The gardens, located on the lobby level, were by far my favorite.
They were beautiful and relaxing to walk around in or to sit and relax. Besides tons of flowers, there is also an area with herbs and vegetables that the restaurant uses! This area is definitely a highlight of the property and a must do when you arrive! I personally recommend grabbing a coffee and sitting out there in the morning – a perfect way to start your day!
The Rooftop Bar
The JW Marriott also has an incredible rooftop bar called The Parkestry! It’s actually the highest rooftop bar and lounge in all of Anaheim! It offers lite bites and creative libations. There is just something so majestic about being on the roof! The views are obviously spectacular and the ambiance couldn’t be more fun! It’s only open in the evening, but it’s a great place for adults to grab a drink and watch the sunset and or the fireworks!
*We were invited and hosted at the JW Marriott for two evenings and dinner but please keep in mind that all opinions and photos are my own.
