My family and I recently took a road trip to Yosemite National Park and while we were there we were fortunate enough to be hosted by Rush Creek Lodge, a luxury resort just outside of the Highway 120 West gate of the park, and had the most wonderful time! My kids ask to go back almost everyday!
This beautiful laid back lodge features 143 rooms, suites, and villas and is only a few years old, so everything felt very new! And with gorgeous views, peaceful sounding creeks throughout the property, a salt water pool, a huge play area, and a brand new spa, it is a vacation destination for any family looking for a quiet, fun, and nature filled getaway!
The property was very peaceful and beautiful. There were ponds and creeks throughout the resort that were soothing to look at and listen to as you walked throughout the resort. There were even hammocks to relax in!
And even though travel has looked very different this year, I felt very safe at the Rush Creek Lodge. Masks were required and enforced in all common areas, rooms were cleaned and disinfected at a very high level, and other safety measures were in place like social distancing and hand sanitizer throughout the resort. When we traveled there, reservations were still required in advance to go into the park, but now its open and they even had their first snow fall of the year! And right now, as we approach the holiday season and more travel plans, the Rush Creek Lodge is having some Thanksgiving holiday specials you can take advantage of when you book your stay!
The lobby is quaint with a general store inside with a coffee shop, prepackaged food and drink, merchandise, and souvenir options!
One aspect I loved about the lodge was all of the activities you could participate in. You could book a hike or tour of Yosemite National Park and participate in activities like painting, crafting, mountain bike rentals, and s’mores by the fire pit every night from 7-9pm! Some of the activities cost a small amount of money, but some activities are complimentary. We definitely took advantage of the s’mores in the evening!
And speaking of activities, there is a large study with a wide selection of board games and game room near the restaurant where many activities take place throughout the day and night!
We were so excited when we were greeted with a thoughtful gift upon arrival. The kids loved their bears and the book they were given.
Let me first tell you about our incredibly gorgeous two-bedroom family villa! We were on the top level and our balcony overlooked beautiful trees, which I honestly couldn’t get enough of! The kids had their own room, which they loved, with two twin beds.
And I was in love with the master bedroom, complete with a couch area, fireplace, and huge balcony patio with the best views!
And the sunset was so pretty from our villa. It was so nice to have this private space in the evening once the kids went to bed so we can enjoy a fire in the fireplace and a glass of wine on the patio balcony.
The villa also came complete with a mud room foyer, a kitchen area with coffee maker and refrigerator, and a huge bathroom!
The thankfully Rush Creek Lodge also has a restaurant on site, because honestly no other options are nearby, and we loved the outdoor seating. We had dinner at the restaurant and had a beautiful view of the sunset and a delicious meal. I highly recommend you make reservations before you arrive or immediately when you check in, since most, if not all, guests staying at the lodge, will all be eating there. We had trouble getting a preferred time for dinner on a weekday because we waited until check-in time. We loved the food, the atmosphere, and our amazing server and would love to have tried more food options, but now we will have something to look forward to for our next visit!
The next morning we opted to have food to-go and eat it in the room on the patio balcony!
We spent some of the afternoon at the pool area, which includes a heated salt water pool and jacuzzi (which is temporarily closed).
And it’s even more beautiful in the evening!!
Our kids loved the park and play area including a zip line, games, a swing, tunnel, and an epic slide!
Now let’s talk about the brand new spa that just opened about a month ago!
I had the most amazing and relaxing massage, which was much overdue after this stressful year. It was the best kind of self care and “me” time and I am so thankful that after my treatment I was able to take a behind the scenes tour of the rest of the spa area!
Technically the spa area is still closed to individual guests, but I love that couples and groups can book it for a two hour window, which can include having lunch in there, too! When you book this private spa time, you have access to the all of the indoor and outdoor spaces that include a sauna, steam room, cool mist room, sensory room, heated chairs, and one of a kind waterfall relaxation area, which was my favorite!
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to have stayed at Rush Creek Lodge and we can’t wait to go back one day!
