Let’s Talk About: The Ollie World

If there was one product I wish I had when my daughter was a baby it would have been an Ollie swaddle. It is a genius product with so many benefits. Not only does the Ollie ease the transition from the womb, there are many other therapeutic benefits of the Ollie that include decreasing irritability and promoting self soothing, encouraging calming to increase bonding, enhancing quality of sleep to improve rest and cycle regulation, and decreasing the risk of hip dysplasia. As a mom and a professional therapist, I find so much value in this swaddle and its a dream come true for my little man.

There are also developmental benefits that include reducing waking saddening due to the Moro reflex or spontaneous arousal, helping to maintain supine position, and reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Preterm infants also show improved neuromuscular development, less physiological distress, better motor organization, and more self regulation abilities. I am a huge supporter of self regulation especially when it comes to sleep training.

I am not kidding you when I say the Ollie swaddle is the only way my son sleeps soundly through the second half of the night after his first feeding. The second I secure him inside he almost immediately falls back to sleep after being restless. It helps contain his reflexes and calms him. It’s magical, really. If only the Ollie came in child and adult sizes, I can see many of my clients buying them for children with sensory sensitivities and those on the autism spectrum.

So what makes the Ollie different? The material is specifically designed to reduce the risk for babies from overheating, it has Velcro sides to fit around any size baby and can be adjusted as they grow, and the bottom can be opened without unswaddling for easy diaper changes – which is especially handy in the middle of the night!

The Ollie comes in four colors but they are so popular three colors are currently sold out!! We own the Sky color (light blue pictured on Instagram) and also the Nest color (beige).
