Let’s Talk About: The Magical Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to step inside a fairytale? Yesterday my daughter and I had the very magical ‘once upon a dream’ opportunity to experience an unforgettable morning at Disneyland. We were treated like princesses at a preview of the brand new Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure at the Napa Rose inside The Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

If you can only imagine for a moment how excited my daughter was, it was also just as thrilling for me. Not only did this type of event bring out the 5 year old in me, I also was given the privilege to experience my daughter’s joy through the eyes of a mom. We were giddy the entire time and had never been treated more like royalty.

The moment you step foot into the Napa Rose, your adventure begins. You are greeted with a smile and each child is given the choice between two different autograph books and two different pen choices. Just like her Sleeping Beauty dress, she chose the pink princess book and the pink pen!

Once you make your choice, you are escorted to a waiting area to meet your first of 8 princesses of the day. In our case, it was Rapunzel, but we were seated almost immediately and after giving her a quick wave we were escorted to our table, which already had a Sunrise Citrus and Vanilla Bun with Raspberry Glaze and Assorted Fruit Slices and Berries waiting for us!

The restaurant truly felt like a royal palace. Everything was very bright and beautiful and every single detail was meticulously planned out and executed to perfection. We were seated right in the middle of the room, which was perfect since we were able to capture every aspect of the restaurant and see everything that was going on around us. We were almost immediately greeted by our server welcoming us and then by our adventure guide, who gave us a game of Princess Tic-Tac-Toe to play while we waited for our first course.

In the meantime, we ordered some beverages! In addition to tea and orange juice, there were a collection of cocktails and mocktails you could order from the Royal Morning Libations menu!

We tried “The Colors of the Wind” mocktail with lemon juice, orange juice, passinfruit juice, pineapple juice, ginger beer, and apple cider that also came with a color changing cube!

We also sampled the Awakening Beauty cocktail as a recommendation from our server based on its beauty alone! It had Ketel One Citron, X-Fusion Passionfruit, Combier, Strawberry Puree, Lemon juice, and Sparkling water! You can also order other drinks like the King’s coffee, The Cajun Mary, Still Royal After Midnight Mimosa, and Ariel’s Grotto Grog!

Then the first course was served and it was spectacular! Like a tea room, we were served a three-tier tower with items like Tiana’s Beignet with caramel inside, Tangled ham, cranberry, and cream cheese sandwiches, the Magic Carpet Parfait with Chia, Kiwi, Mango, and Coconut, Abu’s Banana Wrap with Nutella, and Sebastian’s Lobster Rolls.

And since I am gluten free, they served me with my own plate of similar items with no gluten modifications (parfait with no granola) and also a cucumber, cream cheese, and avocado open faced sandwich that was out of this world!! I also loved the lobster roll and the banana wrap since it was like tasting a banana creme brûlée. And my daughter loved the beignets! You can also order food made to your own dietary retractions and specifications including vegan, vegetarian, nut free, egg free, and dairy free options. Just speak to your server and let them know and they will tell the cooks!

Once we finished our first course, we were invited to the buffet table with an assortment of breakfast and lunch items! The breakfast items included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and Mickey shaped chicken and waffles!!

The cook even made me my own gluten free waffle and delivered it directly to my table upon request!

For lunch, you can choose from braised short rib, pulled beef sliders with BBQ Sauce and pineapple salsa on a Hawaiian bun, macaroni and cheese, and a vegetable medley with roasted asparagus and tomatoes! Each of the items are clearly marked whether or not they have certain ingredients in them for those with dietary restrictions like me!

In between all three food courses, 4 different princess will come directly to your table to talk with your child, autograph their book, and take photos. This was certainly my daughter’s favorite part of the morning. We were able to meet Belle, Tiana, Aurora, and Jasmine but princesses may vary depending on the day and time you are there.

Then it was time for dessert, the third and final course of the morning. And if you thought the rest of the food was spectacular, the dessert was nothing short of phenomenal! First we had edible flowers, a lemon tart with raspberries on top, Royal Cake Pops (we had Belle and a gluten free Sleeping Beauty), Ariel’s Mango Seashells with vanilla and passionfruit ganache with a white chocolate pearl inside a teal colored macaroon, and Mulan’s Firecracker Raspberry sorbet with strawberries, cotton candy, and rock candy on top!

And of course my gluten friendly dessert (on the top tray) included some minor modifications! And before you eat, your server will come sprinkle some “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” fairy glitter dust on your plate to make it extra magical!

Even after all of this, the breakfast adventure was not over!! After you finish your dessert, your adventure guide will escort you outside to meet another princess! You can enjoy tea and or coffee on the patio while your little ones get autographs, photos, and story time with their 6th princess meet n greet of the day! In our case, it was Mulan! It was our first time meeting Mulan and it was very special because my daughter just learned more about her during Disneyland’s Lunar New Year. To read all about this annual celebration click here!

On the other side of the patio we were also able to meet Pocahontas for the first time! She will spend some time teaching your children some fun skills and some of her native language!

You are then escorted back inside the private dining area of Napa Rose to meet anther special princess and also receive more than adequate time talking, getting autographs, twirling, and even a professional photo from a Disneyland photographer! In our case, we met Ariel from The Little Mermaid!

And just when you think your adventure is over, there is one more surprise on the way out! Each guest is given a special gift, which includes either a large shield or a beautiful crown necklace with Swarovski crystals, custom white chocolates with a cookie on the inside, and a custom bag!

The Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure officially opens to the public this Saturday, March 30th. The Napa Rose will be hosting this special experience Thursday through Monday between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The price for the breakfast is:

Adult: $125 (tax and gratuity not included)
Children (ages 3 to 9): $125 (tax and gratuity not included)

Your reservation includes 5 hours of complimentary valet parking with validation at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and in my opinion, there is nothing like it, and it is definitely worth the price for a special occasion. Honestly, my daughter and I cannot stop thinking about it and created so many memories that morning that will last forever. Disney makes creates so much magical joyfulness for families and children that I would want every child and family to experience what we did!

And you will most definitely want to make reservations in advance – as soon as you know the date and time you would like to go on your princess adventure. You may check availability and make your reservations online, or call (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463 up to 60 days prior to your visit. Reservations can also be made in person on a limited basis, subject to availability.

My recommendation is to allow yourself 2 1/2 hours to fully immerse yourself in the experience and not to rush yourself or your children. And make sure you bring your appetite, your camera, and your imagination! It is an experience of a lifetime and you will love every moment when you go!

🇺🇸 What a monumental day in history we had t 🇺🇸 What a monumental day in history we had today! 🇺🇸

As soon as we woke up I started educating my children, specifically my daughter, on what the inauguration meant and why today was such a special day in history. We both were glued to the television as we watched @kamalaharris be sworn in as the first Black South Asian woman Vice President and @joebiden be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. We also were powerfully moved hearing @amandascgorman - the youngest inaugural poet in history recite “The Hill We Climb.”

My daughter was so excited to participate and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the rest of the county and she was so proud to see and be a part of history in the making. I haven’t been to Washington D.C. in about 8 years but I promised I would take her one day when the pandemic is over.

In the meantime, I have a fun fact for you! Did you know that President Joe Biden and I both graduated from the same university? Yep! We both went to @syracuseu 🍊 And in fact, @joebiden is the first @syracuseu alumnus to become President of the United States!

And since I work from home, it can get quite noisy and distracting with my husband and two children here, so sometimes I get my best work done in the comfort of my own bed. And the best part is that I can have my new @crane_usa “4 in 1” cool mist humidifier on at all times with essential oils to help with overall wellness and since it comes with a sound machine I can block out the other noises in the house!

And at night, it helps my sinuses as I sleep, especially when the dry air of the heater is on, and it has a nightlight so my kids can see where they are going in the middle of the night when they inevitably need water or a hug!

This is our 6th #cranehumidifier style and it’s my favorite one yet! Check out my stories for a closer look! 👀 #happyhealthyhumidity

{New Blog Post} “How to Teach Children Gratitude {New Blog Post} “How to Teach Children Gratitude” 🌱✨🌸

Throwing it back to one of the first mommy and me photos I ever posted on my feed because I’ve been teaching my daughter about gratitude since she was this little, possibly even younger (she is two here for reference)!

Gratitude is such an important virtue and must have trait to build a child’s character. It also shows therapeutic benefits when you show gratitude to others, so why wouldn’t you want to make it a priority to teach and instill in your children?

In this blog, I have suggestions for how to teach children gratitude broken down by ages and stages from infancy to teenage years, while also including some conversation prompts, and links to my favorite gratitude journals for busy families that we use here at home!

Find the direct link to read in my bio and stories! I also published similar articles on @todayparents and @redtricycle if you follow me there! #drkimblog
DOUBLE TAP if you agree!! 🙋🏼‍♀️ I am DOUBLE TAP if you agree!! 🙋🏼‍♀️

I am that mom who wants to do it all and when I get overwhelmed or start suffering from a major case of burnout, I feel guilty if I take a break instead of giving my body and mind permission to slow down or even stop.

As moms we often feel guilty if we take a break or believe we are perceived as weak if we ask for help. I have learned that the more I ask for help and the more time I take for myself, the better I am for my children.

Guilt is an emotional response to something you perceived you did wrong, but when you experience unnecessary guilt, it’s counterproductive to healing and helping you with what you need most. So give it a try and let me know how you are going to take a break and not feel guilty about it this week below in the comments! ⤵️ #drkimparentingtips #theparentologist #drkimparentingadvice

For the last 3 years I have spent my career therapeutically helping families and children of all ages on the Autism Spectrum. Play has been a fundamental way for many of my clients to communicate if they are non-verbal. And some of my clients have had to be taught how to play with a toy or another person. The play ideas listed on the blog can be used with children with or without special needs. Play is a universal way a child can explore their world in a way that makes sense to them and cultivate imagination, creativity, and fun! As a Registered Play Therapist, I love the work I do and couldn’t be prouder of the progress my clients have made with play over the years! #drkimblog

As a Registered Play Therapist, play is the foundation to the way I help children conceptualize and conquer the world. Play is second nature to children and the way they respond to many of life’s obstacles. Sometimes as parents, it is easy to get into a power match with your children, especially when you want your children to comply with a request and they won’t budge. When this happens, we need to change the way our adult mind thinks and switch it to the way a child thinks. Instead of giving them a punitive consequence, try these play recommendations that can be used with children as young as toddlerhood all the way to adolescents! #drkimblog
