If you are a parent, chances are you have trouble sleeping. The trouble might be that you don’t get the opportunity to sleep or maybe you are filled with so much responsibility and worry that you become a serial insomniac. Either way, your body isn’t getting the sleep it needs to function in a healthy way. Without an adequate night’s sleep, you risk emotional, mental, nutritional, and physical illness. Without sleep, we tend to become irritable, anxious, depressed, and even resentful. And to be the best parent you can be, you need sleep. And if you aren’t getting sleep naturally, you may need a boost to aid you in getting the rest your mind, body, and soul needs!
Before I dig in to this post, I want to clarify that I am not a medical doctor and I recommend getting approval from your family physician before starting any new supplement. That being said, I have been known to suggest taking Melatonin before bed at night to some my clients to give their bodies a better chance of not only falling asleep but staying asleep. Again, this is only once they have their doctor’s approval. Melatonin is a natural hormone that our bodies produce and sometimes people need a little more to help regulate sleep. But when you take a Melatonin supplement, like any synthetic supplement, you may have side effects and or have disruptions with any other medications you are taking. That is why it is safest to speak to a medical professional before putting anything new into your body.
And now there is a new product on the market that is available for you to try that will also help you sleep! Orb Sleep Complex just launched in Costco stores in California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico!
And with Orb, you can Fall Asleep, Stay Asleep, and Wake Up Refreshed! Some of the key ingredients include Melatonin and Valerian root, which help promote relaxation and sleep. Another ingredient is L-Theanine, which is a natural antioxidant that acts as a calming agent to help support a sense of well-being. There is also a relaxation oil blend of Lavender and Ylang ylang that creates a calm feeling that may help improve sleep quality and a time delayed release of B-12 that will give you energy when you wake up! It also contains some Lemon Balm and Chamomile! So how has Orb Sleep Complex affected my sleep? I have always been a light sleeper and to this day, I typically wake up multiple times throughout the night. Once I wake up it is also sometimes very hard for me to go back to sleep. I literally wake up every time my husband turns over in bed but I have gotten better about falling back to sleep most of the time. My insomnia reached its peak when I was pregnant and even though it is better now, it’s never been the same. I am sometimes up for hours wired in the middle of the night not knowing what to do with myself. Being a parent with a million responsibilities, there is always something to do and something to worry about. But I have to tell you, Orb Sleep Complex works and has helped me sleep better through the night!
Need some other sleep tips? Here are my TOP 5!
- Stick to a sleep schedule. Your body will adapt to a routine and in the same way when I sleep train babies and toddlers, I suggest going to bed at the same time every night.
- Have your room as dark as possible. If you need to invest in blackout curtains, do what it takes to keep it dark as long as possible! Wear an eye mask if need be!
- Invest in a fan or a noise machine. White noise will drown out any other noise nuances you may hear throughout the night.
- Avoid looking at a screen at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Read a book, have a conversation with your husband or partner, or play a board game but avoid the light of your phone and the brain power it takes to scroll a social media feed!
- Make a list of what you need to accomplish the next day and or write down anything you are worried about on a piece of paper before going to bed. By getting your thoughts out of your head and externalizing them on paper will help alleviate any anxiety that will hinder your sleep.
From one parent to another, here is to a better night sleep!
