There is so much happening this month at LEGOLAND California!!!! Spring is almost here and there is no better place to be than San Diego – especially at LEGOLAND, which is located just a few miles from the beach and minutes from the famous Flower Fields! I am going to share everything you need to know about their 20th birthday celebration, hotel discounts, when the 10-acre waterpark opens, the LEGO Movie 2 Experience, and even how to build your own character for Miniland USA! It’s the perfect place to play!
My family and I recently had the opportunity to explore the new LEGO Movie 2 Experience, which is exclusively at LEGOLAND California! This brand new interactive exhibit just opened to the public and it is so fun! First you get to feel as if you are stepping right on set of the movie when you get to go behind-the-scenes and see the giant display of LEGO® Models that are featured in “The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part!
You’ll get to see a miniature version of Apocalypseburg, the hometown of Emmet, Lucy, and all of their friends as well as the see up close models from the Systar System.
You also get a glimpse of the basement (and even see Emmet under the washing machine) and a personal look at Bianca’s room. There is so much detail that goes into each set!
Did you know that THE LEGO® Movie 2 Experience features more than 500,000 LEGO bricks and took Master Model builders more than 960 hours to assemble for the blockbuster film?
You will also get to see all of the different transformations that Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi makes in the film, see some clips from the movie, and hear your favorite songs as you tour the room!
There are also character meet n greets throughout the day where you can meet Emmet, Lucy, and more friends from the movie!
So once you head to the movies your next stop should be the theme park! The exhibit is included with your admission to the park but is only open for a limited time so make sure you go see it before it’s gone!
In other LEGOLAND news, the 10-acre waterpark will open for the season on March 16th! And there is a new addition this year with Surfer’s Cove, which is the home to their newest water ride, Riptide Racers – where guests can race against the clock down a six rider slide!
And did you know that LEGOLAND California is turning 20 this year on March 20th? To celebrate, the park is giving free admission to children ages 2-12 on their birthday!!!! And just yesterday they unveiled two new characters, Jake and Emily, which were the two most popular girl and boy names of 1999 when the park opened, that you can meet at the park in honor of their 20th birthday! Come celebrate on the 20th with exclusive birthday themed desserts, special badges, and more! And there is a new 20th Birthday Dance Party you can see from March 16-September 1!
And the first 1,000 kids entering the Park will receive free child-size minifigure hands and guests will be treated to a special birthday-themed Park opening ceremony where one lucky child celebrating their birthday will get an opportunity to officially open the Park for the day.
The LEGO birthday cake, created out of more than 100,000 LEGO bricks, will also be on display!!
