I have found that I get asked more questions about my daughter’s raw amber necklace from strangers more than anything else when we go out in public. What is it? Does it work? How does it work? Where did you buy it? I am continually surprised that more parents don’t know about the benefits of raw amber so today I am going to answer all of those questions and share a little bit about what I know about raw amber necklaces with you!
We first bought our daughter a raw amber necklace when she was 13 months old (but I know many parents that bought them as soon as 5 months old) to help naturally reduce the drooling, inflammation, and pain of teething. And did you know that raw amber necklaces are not just for babies? They are also used for adults who have joint pain or arthritis!
Raw amber contains a high amount of succinic acid, a FDA approved substance found naturally in the body. When you place the raw amber against the skin to absorb it boosts the body’s natural levels of succinic acid, thus relieving the pain and discomfort of teething. And guess what? It works!!!
Safety, choking, and strangulation are always big concerns with any infant or toddler wearing a necklace so adult supervision is always a must, especially if your child likes to tug or chew the necklace. We do not have our daughter wear her raw amber necklace during nap time or bed time. We take the necklace off completely during nap time since it is a fairly short time period. To still have contact with her skin at night we often wrap it twice around her ankle (it is tight enough not to come off but loose enough that it is safe under her footed pajamas). This way she can still feel the effects of the raw amber while she sleeps especially when her teeth will hurt most when she’s lying down. Amber necklace beads are the size of a pea and are double looped so only one bead should fall off if broken.
Once the raw amber necklace is used on one person it cannot be used on someone else because it adapts to your own skin’s chemistry. And word of caution please do not get the raw amber necklace wet. Getting it wet with water or sunscreen reduces its potency.
An amber necklace makes a really great baby shower gift for a new mom or a great stocking stuffer, too. The best part is that they only cost around $20! I bought mine at a local baby store and you can buy your own at www.rawamberteethingnecklace.com or www.amazon.com! I’d love to hear your experiences with raw amber necklaces, too! Happy teething!!
