Let’s Talk About: R Baby Foundation + Find ER Now

1 in 5 children go to the ER each year. Do you know what ER near you is prepared for your child?

As a mom, my children’s health and safety are my biggest concern. Making sure I am prepared to know where to take them in an emergency situation is imperative! It’s terrifying to think they would ever be in a life threatening situation, but the more educated I am if that time ever comes will help me feel more at ease. And when you are in a crisis, you are more likely to panic, so the more you are prepared before a crisis happens, you and your child will benefit. Download the Find ER Now app when you are in a calm state of mind.

30,000 babies in the U.S. die each year and 20,000 within their first month of life. And babies born in the U.S. are 2x more likely to die than in many other developed countries.

ERs are not one size fits all and children deserve specialized, attentive medical attention. Without quick and accurate treatment, even a routine illness can quickly become fatal for babies.

The Emergency Medical Services Corporation has reported that only 47% of the 4000+ ERs in the US have an emergency preparedness plan addressing the unique needs of children. And unfortunately many ERs do not have anyone working in a pediatric coordinator role.

R Baby Foundation is an incredible non profit organization that was born for a single purpose: to save as many babies’ lives as possible. They are the first and only foundation focused on making sure every emergency room is prepared to give babies and children lifesaving care through improving pediatric emergency services, training, research, treatment, equipment and education.

R Baby Foundation was started by parents, Phyllis and Andrew Rabinowitz, in 2006, after the tragic loss of their own infant, to organize and fund efforts to improve the outcomes of medical care for infants – particularly those who contract certain viral infections within the first month of life. To read more about their heartbreaking story, grab a tissue, and click here.

R Baby Foundation has raised over $10,000,000 to fund grants that directly improve pediatric emergency care for our children. 90% of funds go directly to programs that improve care.

Please download FIND ER NOW so you can quickly find the closest ERs and see which are more likely to be prepared for your child. Download the free version of the app and upgrade the pediatric version for .99 cents – a small cost for such an immeasurable resource! Having valuable information at my fingertips may just save my babies’ lives one day!
