When I was a little girl, one of my favorite memories of coming to Disneyland was getting a framed silhouette of my profile and hanging it up on the wall in my room. I thought it was a fascinating concept and it felt so special to have something so beautiful and unique.
And now that I’m a mom I want to be connected to my children as much as I possibly can – especially when I’m at work and missing them dearly. LEILA is a family owned business in my hometown of San Diego. Charlene, a mom of two, started making jewelry with her mom as a hobby when she was a young girl. After college where she studied graphic design, her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and while they were in the hospital they started making jewelry again together. Sadly her mom lost her fight with breast cancer and after she passed away Charlene realize that making jewelry was something she loved and kept her connected to
her mother.
She started selling jewelry at farmers market’s and local boutiques. She started making jewelry in her apartment where her hobby started become a business. Her husband joined on the venture in 2005 and the rest is history! Their designs have been sold in more than 400 stores and featured in magazines like Lucky, InStyle, Elle Girl, In Touch, Glamour, and OK! Magazine!! Her designs have also been worn by celebrities such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Lauren Conrad, and Eva Longoria!
