I have always had a love relationship with Noodles & Company. I have been eating there for years and have tried pretty much everything on their menu, so I was ecstatic when I found out they were coming out with some new dishes this month! And then I was given the opportunity to partner with them to not only try the new dishes but also share my review with all of you! I really do love my job! #ad
This year I have vowed to eat with more intention. In the past, my motto has been “everything in moderation” but as I get older, I am trying to choose more choices that benefit my body than making exceptions for foods that aren’t good for me. In my new mindset, I am now a self proclaimed “shellfish-a-tarian”. I have always loved shellfish – especially shrimp – and pretty much eat it at least once a week. My kids love it, too! Come to find out the new dishes at Noodles & Company feature shrimp! So my family and I went for lunch together last weekend to try the new shrimp dishes including the Zucchini Shrimp Scampi and the Penne Rosa with Shrimp.
First let’s talk about the zoodles in the Zucchini Shrimp Scampi! Not only have I been trying to eat more vegetables in my diet, but I have also been trying to watch my calorie intake – so eating a dish with zoodles instead of noodles was an obvious choice for me. A small dish is only 240 calories and a regular dish is only 410 calories. And I loved this dish because the sauce was light but super flavorful. The sautéed shrimp were plentiful and huge – not something you get everyday when you order shrimp dishes from other restaurants. The dish also came with Roma tomatoes and parmesan cheese! I felt satisfied after eating this dish but not overstuffed, so it was perfect for me! And I even let my husband have a few bites, too!
If you are looking for a dish that is a little more heartier, however, I would recommend the Penne Rosa with Shrimp. And, even though I didn’t get it this time, the dish can be ordered with rice noodles or gluten-free fusilli for a small upcharge!!! This dish is covered in a superb spicy tomato cream sauce and topped with mushrooms, spinach, Roma tomatoes, and parmesan – and of course large, succulent shrimp! And if I am being honest, I ate the shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes, and some of the sauce while my husband ate the pasta! It was delicious!
My husband was also craving some of his all time favorite sauce, so we also ordered the Pesto Cavatappi with Shrimp, which is made with a basil pesto and garlic sauce with mushrooms, tomato, parmesan, and cream. He honestly ate this dish so quickly I didn’t even get a bite, but from what I witnessed, he loved it and practically licked the bowl clean! You can also get this dish with gluten-free fusilli!
The kids both got the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese with applesauce and broccoli. The restaurant also offers grilled chicken, buttered noodles, or spaghetti and meatballs on their Kids Menu.
As you can imagine, we had some leftovers to take home with us, so we could enjoy the rest of our meal at a later time! Next time I go, I really want to try online ordering so I can skip the line and get my food quicker, which as a busy mom, is so helpful! I would definitely get these shrimp dishes again either with zoodles or gluten-free noodles or one of their salads and soups! Their Thai Chicken Soup is gluten-free and their Tomato Basil Bisque is vegan and gluten-free!
One part of this company that I love is how they give back. They offer fundraising nights, food donations and more to schools, colleges, youth community groups, libraries, community gardens, first responders, and more.
