Before I became pregnant with this baby boy I always dreamed of having a Paddington Bear themed baby sprinkle. My daughter’s baby shower was a Peter Rabbit theme and I thought staying with a classic book theme was appropriate considering how much I adore children’s books and both of these characters.
Once I became pregnant, two of my closest friends offered to throw me a baby sprinkle. We wanted it to be a sprinkle since I already had a baby shower with my first and only needed specific items that didn’t last the second time around and or clothing and bathing items for a boy instead of a girl. A sprinkle is intended to be a smaller version of a shower, but essentially they are basically the same thing.
The sprinkle had been in the works for months. My two friends planned every single detail of the sprinkle thoughtfully yet they still would ask me for advice and final approval on everything. It was nice to feel included in the decision making process yet not have to actually plan or purchase anything.
I decided to invite about 15 of my closest friends that I had have for 10+ years and or my closest friends that I see on a regular basis locally that has been part of this pregnancy journey with me. It is always difficult because I am the type of person that wants to include and invite everyone, but I kept it limited this time to close friends, neighbors, and mamas I spend time with often. I am very blessed to have had friends come from out-of-state and from 2+ hours away to spend the day with me and baby boy.
Guests began arriving around 11am and after spending some time catching up with everyone we ate lunch, played games, and opened gifts. We lunched on caprese skewers, peanut butter and marmalade sandwiches (made with a teddy bear cut out) and cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches (made with a heart cut out) as well as chocolate covered gummy bears, mini sprinkle donuts, blue macaroons and custom sugar cookies from Sweet Little Baker.
We had a drink station with lemonade, water bottles with custom labels, and “Preggatini” mocktails that my husband crafted. We also had a station where guests could write prayers for the baby on mini custom cards for his scrapbook, and party favors for each guest with custom Paddington Bear suitcase bags filled with Teddy Grahams, gummy bears, a mini jar of marmalade, and a prayer bear.
We played “The Price is Right” where guests had to look at certain baby items and guess how much each item costs, the “Celebrity Baby Game” where guests had to match the baby’s name to his or her parents, and “What’s in Your Purse” game where guests received points for having certain items in their purse or diaper bag. Winners chose between a bottle of wine, a candle, and a coffee gift card for prizes.
After the games we opened gifts and took a ton of photos. It was a lovely day and everything was how I imagined. Honestly, everything I had dreamed of in my head was perfectly executed and I couldn’t feel more loved and happy. And not only was I able to share it with my best friends, but also with my husband and my baby girl. I loved the fact that some of my friends even brought a present for my daughter as well as the baby.
Speaking of gifts, I created a baby registry gift guide of the most important items I registered for and or a list of recommended items I suggest for a new mom.
