My family and I were recently invited for the ribbon cutting ceremony and official grand opening of the new DUPLO®Playtown at LEGOLAND California and it was awesome! I even unintentionally matched the LEGO character we met right before we walked inside!
The rain did not stop this play therapist and her babies from having fun! We first rode the new LEGOLAND®Express Train Ride. My son is currently obsessed with trains so this was a BIG deal for him. And he was given the cutest train hat in his gift bag so he thought he was extra special!
The train was definitely a big hit with my preschooler and toddler. I had to admit I had fun, too. It doesn’t fit that many people (maybe 10) so be prepared for a little wait as the train goes around twice for it’s entirety. The very first cart of the train only holds one child but the rest of the carts hold one adult and two small children at most!
We also played until our heart’s content on the 10 different playhouses with hands-on activities, slides, and sensory driven interactive components that encourage kids to use their imagination and creativity while playing!! Each play area is so different and fun. There is a lot of sensory play and many of the structures have buttons where you can press for sounds! And you can even play with DUPLO bricks!
I love how the play town is tucked away. Everything is so colorful and is a perfect place for toddlers to play. The structures are safety enclosed so they can climb, hide, and pretend they are on an epic adventure. There is even a really fun maze! I get asked a lot if LEGOLAND is a good place to go with toddlers, and even though there is a lot more to do for children in the 5-12 age range, this Play Town is the perfect place for toddlers and one more reason I say bring your little ones to LEGOLAND! I bring my 2 year old all the time and there is plenty for him to do there and this is one more thing to add to our list!
And there is even a fun ride for older siblings and children to ride with an adult. But if you are there with more than one child and or one of your children is small, you would have to skip this one as it is only a two person ride and the other rider has to be an adult.
When I first posted about the grand opening, I was asked if this playground was similar to the previous one in the same spot. To be honest, I never went to the old one so I can’t compare but I really liked this one and we were there for about an hour and a half before we felt we had done everything and we’re ready to leave.
I also love that the Play Town is close to the entrance/exit of the park and has the most beautiful views of LEGOLAND!
We even witnessed the miraculous donation of $80,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities®! I love how LEGOLAND gives back and especially to a charity I volunteer with each year. In fact, many of the Ronald McDonald families were there that day celebrating with us too. It was special to see them there. The new 20th birthday LEGO characters, Jake and Emily even made an appearance!!!
Thank you LEGOLAND for inviting us to join you for this special day. We had so much fun!!
We even received some gifts to remember the day with including a train badge and a DUPLO play set for my son!
