Many of you already know that I have dual citizenship with the US and the UK. I am so proud of where I have come from and when people ask me to share something unique about myself, that is what I share. And to me, one of the best parts of my cultural heritage is sharing it with my children. I love sharing with them the history of their nationality, their lineage and ancestry, and all of the customs and traditions of each culture. My hope is that they will keep passing down these special family treasures with their children for generations to come.
What many of you don’t know is that my husband is a Canadian citizen. He was born in Canada and immigrated to the US as a child. It hasn’t been as easy for him to claim dual citizenship, but he remains a very proud Canadian and thus I have adopted the same passion for his country of origin.
We both love sharing the different aspects of each country with our children and will continue to do so as they grow. Whether it’s celebrating the 4th of July, Canada Day, or Boxing Day we want to celebrate each country we originated from as a teaching tool of pride and remembrance! And I love that we can celebrate three different citizenships and parts of the world!
This weekend we were able to recognize and celebrate both Canada Day and Independence Day! So what better than to be patriotic and celebrate both holidays with some festive swaddle blankets from I am baby this year!
