Coastal Bliss at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa

My family and I love a good staycation in our own backyard so we recently spent the weekend at The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa and had such a peaceful and fun time! We haven’t stayed here in about 5 years and we were very excited to be back!

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Property

 

The Westin Carlsbad is located in the upscale coastal community of Carlsbad, California and offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The resort sits atop a 50+ acre complex where you are welcomed to the resort with a gorgeous lobby and beautiful outdoor fire pit sitting areas!

The Rooms

 

The Westin Carlsbad has 208 guest rooms and 28 suites with stunning ocean views. We stayed in the Grand View area of the resort in a double queen ocean view room and the view of the beach and especially the sunsets were incredible! And Westin resorts boasts about their Heavenly® Bed but I would have to say the shower was like being in a spa! It was so relaxing I didn’t want to get out! The room was big enough for a family of four and even had a balcony for some extra space. Everything was newly decorated and it felt very clean. I also loved the modern colors and decor! All guest rooms and suites feature large work desks with built-in data ports and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Pool & Play Area

 

Even in January, we spent some time at the pool because it is always sunny in Southern California! And after spending some time in the water, we ventured over to the play area to compete in some family friendly ping pong and cornhole! And the pool is lit so beautiful in the evening!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 20 | Twenty Restaurant

 

For dinner we ate at 20Twenty one of the nights during our stay. The Westin’s 20Twenty Restaurant is open for dinner 5:30-10pm Tuesday-Saturday and breakfast buffet daily 7am-11am. Happy Hour is Tuesday-Friday 4:00-6pm. Here is a look at what we ordered! I absolutely loved my Lavender and scallops. And I couldn’t believe how incredible the lobster risotto was! There was so much lobster and they were giant pieces! I do have to note, for planning purposes, that they have a more limited menu right now and the kids menu in particular didn’t have many options, so check to make sure your child will be happy with the food that is offered before you stay for a meal.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Sunsets and Beach Views

 

The resort had beautiful views of the sunset from various parts of the property and stunning views day and night from our room balcony! I loved being able to see the ocean while sipping on my morning coffee! We could even see LEGOLAND from our room!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Ocean Pearl Spa

 

When I am on a vacation, I always like to make an appointment and unwind at the resort’s spa! There is something about that little treat to yourself that really rejuvenates you for the rest of your trip! And sometimes you don’t need to book a long, expensive treatment, but just pay for a nominal day pass to use the spa’s amenities!

Health and Safety Measures

 

I felt very safe while staying at the Westin Carlsbad. The resort is closely following Marriott’s Commitment to Clean Standards in all guest rooms and public spaces. As the health and safety of the Westin Carlsbad guests and team members are of utmost importance, the resort has adopted enhanced cleaning steps aligned with recommended protocols and safety procedures. Contactless check-in, check-out and room entry are available via digital key access through the Marriott Bonvoy™ app.

 

 

 

 

 

 

What’s Nearby

 

There is so much to do nearby the resort. First, overnight guests can enjoy the property’s onsite bike rentals; one hour free is included in the overnight resort fee. LEGOLAND is essentially next-door and the property has it’s own secret private entrance! The beach is very close and you can even take an easy hike at the Carlsbad lagoon! There is a fun shopping area called the Carlsbad Premium Outlets just a hop, skip, and a jump away and you can even drive to the Carlsbad Village for unique restaurants, shops, and jump on the Coaster for a fun train ride! All guests can also enjoy a complimentary shuttle service within a five-mile radius of the resort and take advantage of the Ride the Tide open-air beach trolley with shuttle service to Tamarack Beach.
