My daughter and I were thrilled to be invited to a special sneak peek screening of Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio’s co-production of the Abominable movie this past weekend. Earlier in the week we had seen a trailer of the movie and couldn’t wait to meet some new characters including the big white lovable Yeti, Everest. So when the day finally came we were giddy. And we weren’t disappointed.
Truth be told, the film is incredible! It’s smart, funny, endearing, and heartfelt. You will grow attached very quickly and fall in love with Everest and his friends who travel 2,000 miles with him back to his home from Shanghai to the Himalayas. Everest’s friends include Yi, Jin, and Peng. They are neighbors who grew up together that surprisingly end up on an unforgettable adventure when they find Everest hiding on their apartment building roof by happenstance. The journey they take has its peeks and valleys, but ultimately teaches them about family, friendship, perseverance, letting go, and moving on.
I left the theater in awe. Honestly I haven’t seen an animated film that I have loved as much as this one in a long time. From the very beginning to the very end I was captivated and left having all the feels of happiness, love, and hope. Seriously, I couldn’t stop smiling all day!
The story line is original, the writing is clever and witty, and the animation is truly, beautifully stunning!! Everest is so lifelike and each clip captures the true beauty of the world that has you engaged every moment of the film. There are so many twists and turns, numerous laugh out loud moments, and some scenes that will seriously pull on your heartstrings.
All week I have been using the words “amazing” and “adorable” to describe the movie. Honesty I wasn’t planning on writing an entire blog review but I genuinely loved it so much it deserves the notoriety! It is definitely a must see this weekend when it opens to the public on Friday, September 27th. Click this link to grab your tickets early because I guarantee this film will sell out all weekend long!! The movie is rated PG and I recommend it for ALL ages!! I can’t wait to take my toddler!
All opinions on this movie review are my own. Thank you to Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation for inviting me to such a special film and creating a beautiful memory for me and my daughter!! And thank you for all of the goodies, too!
