GIVEAWAY DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM
There is nothing a parent desires more than for their children to be safe and healthy. Although it seems like common knowledge to baby proof your home with child locks, baby gates, and securing furniture to the wall, children have a way of getting into situations that compromise their safety. I know I have been caught off guard a few times since becoming a parent, so I’d like to share a few safety tips that can hopefully spread awareness and help other parents, too!
- Always try to cook and boil your water on the back burners of the stove.
- If you have chemicals and cleaners in your home, put them up high in a locked cabinet and or store them in the garage in a locked bin.
- Vacuum often so little pieces from big brother and big sister’s toys are safe from a little ones’ reach and to prevent choking.
- When you are distracted by cooking, cleaning, or another household task, make sure you place your young child in a locked and sturdy play yard.
- Keep remotes and toys with small round batteries out of reach
- Never put anything inside a crib while a baby is sleeping
- Never cook while babywearing your child.
- Change the sheets, dust, and change the air filters in your home often.
- Always wash yours and your child’s hands before meal time.
- Never leave your child in the car alone at anytime, even if they are sleeping, or even if you are parked in the garage
There is never enough time in the day to get things done. As a mom I have learned to multi-task and juggle multiple jobs at once. I am typically cleaning or cooking while feeding one of my children and possibly at the same time as being on the phone or checking email. If my children aren’t sleeping, my main objective is to make sure they are fed and safe before I engage in any one task, especially if my attention can’t be 100% on them, which, let’s be honest, happens periodically through the day. I especially like to teach my children self regulation skills and independent play time, so sometimes I purposely set up times in the day where they play or read on their own.
My son, who just turned one year old, is very active. He hasn’t started walking on his own yet, but crawls fiercely around the room and walks along the furniture with passion! Needless to say he is constantly moving and needs to be continuously engaged. He grew out of his walker and grew tiresome of his jumper. His pack n play is good in short doses but it is often too small of a space for him to really explore and play.
I needed something bigger for him to really move around in, so I got him a SuperYard ColorPlay Ultimate by North States. (AD) They sponsored this post, but all of the opinions are my own. Not only does my son love all the space the play yard lends, but he also loves all of the different vibrant colors of the panels, which, only I know, stimulates his vision development! He also loves that even though he is safely contained, he can still see me through the panels. I love that I can be in the kitchen and still see everything he is doing and know that he is safe while I attend to other tasks. We both love that the Ultimate play yard also comes with a door that locks!
The play yard can be used indoors or outdoors! The play yard came in handy at my son’s first birthday party where him and a few other baby friends had their first play date safely inside the play yard while the parents stood nearby mingling!
The play yard is sturdy and will not tip over. It is easy to put together and folds easily for storage and traveling purposes. It even comes with a carrying strap for portability! The SuperYard ColorPlay Utimate comes with 6 panels, which provides 18.5 square feet of space! I also have a two panel extension, which creates 34.4 square feet of space! I also love that it is affordable and costs less than $100! You can shop the SuperYard ColorPlay Ultimate here https://northstatesind.com/product/superyard-colorplay-ultimate/
