My family and I recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Colorado for a long 3-night weekend and were graciously hosted by the Hilton Denver City Center during our stay. We had the most amazing experience at this 4-Star hotel and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! The hotel is not a very far drive from the airport, and when you arrive, you valet your car and the bell service takes care of the rest!
After we checked into our room, we went upstairs to enjoy some peace and quiet before heading out on the town! When we arrived in our room, we were greeted with a beautiful welcome letter and a plethora of drinks and snacks to enjoy throughout our stay. My husband and I were able to enjoy a glass of champagne while the kids were treated with juice and we toasted our trip and our family vacation!
We were treated to two different types of rooms at the hotel. Both rooms were ajoining so it felt like we had the whole hotel to ourselves! The first room was a double queen bed room with a beautiful view of the city.
The second room was a Junior suite with a full sized living room and kitchen with a separate king size bedroom and bathroom. Both rooms would work really well for a family of four, but if you have a little extra to splurge, I highly recommend getting the junior suite! There was a lot of floor space to play and plenty of room for all of us to enjoy our own space. I loved having access to a kitchen, too ! Since our kids go to bed much earlier than we do, you can even get a rollaway bed and a pack ‘n play for the living room area so your kids could sleep in one room while you stay up a little later watching a movie or playing a game in the bedroom area!
The hotel also has a huge fitness center and pool for you to enjoy throughout the year as they are both indoors! I’d also like to mention that the pool is heated and the temperature was perfect!
Once we had time to unpack and relax, we walked one block to the 16th St. Mall where there were plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner. I love the fact that there is not only plenty of restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, there is also a movie theater, a Target, and right now until February 3, 2019, you can visit the Skyline Park Ice Skating Rink in Downtown Denver within minutes of the lobby! Admission is FREE and skate rentals are only $6-$8 per person! And speaking of the lobby of the hotel is stunning with a beautiful and welcoming fireplace!
I loved that the lobby had so many places to sit and relax and luckily when we took our trip, it was already decorated for Christmas and the tree and decorations were absolutely gorgeous! There is even a Starbucks in the lobby so you don’t even have to go outside to get a quick breakfast, an afternoon snack, or your daily caffeine fix!
One of the best parts about our stay is that we were able to enjoy the Executive Lounge during our stay. If you’ve never experienced a Hilton‘s Executive Lounge it is definitely being an Honors Member! It is open 24 hours a day for you to grab water, tea, sodas, milk, trail mix, and fruit!
And during the morning hours you can enjoy a hearty breakfast with everything you could imagine! And on certain evenings, they will even provide appetizers during happy hour!
There is so much to do in the city near the hotel including a Children’s Museum, Aquarium, Zoo, Botanic Gardens, and even one of my favorite places in Denver, the Tattered Cover Book Store. And depending on what time of year you visit, you can catch a game nearby at either Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, or Sports Authority Field at Mile High!
And if you want to get out of the city there is plenty to do within a short distance! In fact, one of the days that we were there, we took a 30 minute drive up to Boulder to see some snow! It was a perfect cozy yet chilly afternoon and so beautiful as the snow fell from the sky! My daughter was excited because she got to catch some snow on her tongue for the first time and it was my son’s first experience playing in the snow so we definitely created some long lasting memories! If you want to travel a little further, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding or go to one of my favorite places, Estes Park!
After taking a little walk down Pearl Street, we stopped at a local Starbucks for some hot chocolate to warm up before heading back to hotel for dinner.
That night, we ate at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Prospect’s Urban Kitchen & Bar, for dinner. We had a perfect table near the fireplace and we were also able to watch the basketball game that was playing on the giant TV on the other side of the room!
We first shared the hummus appetizer with grilled naan bread, carrots, cucumber, and broccoli. It was delightful! The vegetables were crunchy and fresh and the hummus was light but rich with garlicky flavor! It came with bread but since I’m gluten-free I didn’t have any, but my husband said it was delicious!
The Kids Menu was fairly extensive and had a lot of favorite options! Both of my children ordered the macaroni and cheese that also came with fries and an ice cream sundae at the end of the meal!
My husband ordered the lamb T-Bone roasted miso cauliflower, charred carrots, chimi churri and I ordered the flank steak and fries.
