As you know, my work takes me to Los Angeles quite often for media events, press junkets, red carpet premieres, and movie screenings but I typically don’t spend the night because I end up rushing home to be with my children. It’s rare that my whole family is able to take an entire trip with me but we recently we were able to make it happen when we stayed at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Set on the corner of Hollywood and Highland, next to the famous Dolby Theatre, this Hollywood hotspot in right in the center of it all.
As soon as you walk inside the beautifully decorated hotel, you know you are somewhere special. Everything is very chic and modern and has a celebrity driven flare to it.
As soon as we checked in, we explored our spacious Studio Two King Suite, complete with two King sized beds, a desk and office area, and a living area with a pull out couch! The room was perfect for our family of small children because it was on the corner and extremely quiet and tucked away from the hustle and bustle outside! Plus the kids were able to release some extra energy by running down the long hallway from the elevator to the room, which benefited all of us!
And did I mention that our room view was gorgeous and overlooked the famous Hollywood sign and The Magic Castle?
As soon as we settled in, we took a walk down to the Chinese 6 movie theaters to see a sneak peek screening of the new LEGO 2 Movie! The best part is that we could walk from the hotel to the theatre and not get wet even though it was pouring rain outside! And although it doesn’t rain in LA very often, this was exciting to me because with two small children in tow, we were able to do something active outside the hotel and be covered the entire time despite the weather. I also loved that as a guest at the hotel we could only access the guest room floors on the elevator, lobby restrooms, and the exterior entrance to the hotel using our room key. It made everything feel that much more exclusive and made me feel so much safer!
On our way back to the room, we stopped for a quick lunch to go at Bodega, the hotel’s convenient stop n shop located in the back of the lobby. There were salads, sandwiches, snacks, wine, sodas, water, and even Starbucks coffee! There is also an area where you can buy a newspaper, souvenirs, or even toiletry items you may have forgotten at home. Bodega is open daily from 6am-6pm.
I ended up getting the Kale salad with toasted pecans, currants, pickled beets, and white balsamic vinaigrette. It was incredible and super healthy!
When we returned to our room, we put our son down for a nap, and my husband and I took turns taking our daughter around the hotel to explore everything it had to offer! Our first stop was the rooftop pool! It was still a little rainy and wet outside so we didn’t go in the pool, but we stuck our feet in for a few minutes and it was so warm and inviting! I loved the view from the rooftop and would love to go back and experience it again in the summer!
We then explored the fitness center – located near the pool on the same floor. It’s open 24 hours and is filled with high quality fitness machines, free weights, and more!
When we arrived back at the room, we were thrilled when room service surprised us with a tray filled with a welcome note, delicious gluten-free treats, Fiji Water, and a bottle of wine! The brownies were a family favorite and we basically fought over who was able to eat the last one!
After my son woke up from his nap, we walked across the street from the hotel to the El Capitan theatre to see Beauty and the Beast! The El Capitan is such an iconic place to see a movie and we were lucky enough to see this classic on the big screen while it was in town for a special engagement. To see more family friendly movies at the theatre, you can visit their website here!
When we arrived back at the hotel, which was literally a 3 minute walk, we ordered dinner at the lobby’s restaurant H2 Kitchen and Bar. We were going to eat at the restaurant but they didn’t have any highchairs so we opted to order the food to go and take it back up to the room. My favorite part of the restaurant was the call buttons on every table. With the touch of a button a server will come help you with what you need as promptly as they can!
My daughter ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and my son ordered the cheese pizza. I ordered the Scallops and my husband ordered the Hanger Steak and Fries – which were so good we all helped him eat this portion of his meal. Everything I tried was delicious and wish I could have ordered more! And some items are only $6 during Happy Hour from 3-6pm, so it’s definitely a time to try a few new things if you live near the hotel! And right now Loews Hotels are featuring Flavor by Loews Hotels , a new and unique branded food & beverage program showcasing the talents of our destination’s best local artisans without ever having to leave the hotel! Loews Hollywood Hotel is proud to partner with ChocoVivo (@chocovivio_la), Conway Family Wines (@deepseawine) and Duidough Cookie Lab (@duidough) to bring a true taste of Los Angeles to our guests as part of Flavor Hollywood. #FlavorHollywood
Another feature of the hotel that I really liked was the Chat Your Service program. Once you have checked in, you can text a phone number whether you need a restaurant reservation, more towels, or something needs to be addressed in your room, and someone at the hotel answers immediately and helps you!
After a restful night sleep, my family and I went downstairs and had a buffet breakfast to our hearts’ content at Preston’s , the hotel’s breakfast and lunch restaurant located on the Mezzanine level of the hotel. The restaurant’s Executive Chef, Mark Ching, offers California-inspired contemporary American cuisine, and it was delectable!
We were so sad to say goodbye to such a fun family filled weekend in one of my favorite cities at such a hospitable hotel, but it was finally time to go home. Thank you Loews Hollywood for such an amazing weekend and treating us like Hollywood celebrities! We can’t wait to come back again and again!
